The BMW i3 REx (Range Extender) is a unique plug-in hybrid electric vehicle featuring an electric motor with an onboard 2-cylinder petrol generator engine that recharges the EV battery, eliminating range anxiety by providing backup power for longer trips. Unlike a standard or full hybrid, the engine never directly drives the wheels, it only generates electricity for the battery.
